About Me

Welcome to Mechanical Insider! My name is Ahmad, and I have over 20 years of experience in various mechanical engineering specializations, jobs, and roles. I am passionate about using mechanical engineering principles to solve problems and achieve business goals.

From my college years, I was fascinated by the wonders of mechanical engineering and how these principles drive our everyday activities. I gained practical experience during my internship at an automotive workshop, performing maintenance, repairs, and overhauls for different vehicle types. And completing other internships at Fertilizers plant and an Oil&Gas company.

After graduation, I worked my way up the career ladder, from junior equipment maintenance engineer in a factory to maintenance of marine vessels, Derrick barge’s crane engineer, marine vessels docking repairs superintendent, and eventually to maintenance management and planning. I then took a leap of faith and transitioned into project management and execution. I worked as a construction engineer, field engineer, procurement senior engineer, fabrication workshop manager, and business unit manager.

Through these experiences, I learned not only the literal bolts and nuts of equipment but also how tasks are handled, planned, and connected to subsequent ones. I have experience in quality assurance procedures, such as ISO 9001 and ISM code, and I am an ASME-qualified bolting specialist. To further hone my managerial skills, I pursued post-graduate studies in business administration, obtainingan MBA, and taking courses in leadership, strategic management and planning, marketing, finance, and accounting in areas that have touchpoints with mechanical engineering, such as assets management, valuation, and depreciation.

My passion for learning and teaching led me to go back and forth between gaining knowledge and sharing it with new engineers, technicians, and undergraduates.

With Mechanical Insider, I want to share my expertise and experience with the world. Here, you will find information, guides, templates, and cheat sheets to accomplish your work successfully and gain additional experience.
